Standard

Training is delivered effectively and professionally by qualified trainers using appropriate facilitation techniques, tools, and interpersonal skills to engage trainees, manage group dynamics, and foster a positive and inclusive training environment.

Rationale

High-quality delivery and facilitation are crucial for transferring knowledge and skills effectively, maintaining trainee motivation, ensuring participation, and achieving learning objectives.

Evidence/Indicators

  • Trainer observation reports (from peers/managers) evaluating delivery skills against criteria.
  • Trainee feedback specifically on trainer's delivery, facilitation, and engagement skills.
  • Video recordings of training sessions (if available and permitted) for review.
  • Evidence of diverse facilitation techniques being used (e.g., questioning, feedback techniques, managing discussions, using energizers).
  • Trainer preparedness documentation (e.g., lesson plans).

Metrics

  • Average trainee satisfaction score on trainer delivery and facilitation skills.
  • Average score from peer/manager observations based on a standardized rubric.
  • Ratio of interactive vs. passive delivery time (estimated from observations/lesson plans).

Performance Levels

  • Non-Compliant: Delivery is unprofessional, unstructured, ineffective, or fails to engage trainees; environment is not conducive to participation. Unstructured and ineffective.
  • Developing: Delivery is competent but may rely heavily on lecture, lack strong facilitation skills, or struggle with group management; engagement is inconsistent. Basic lecture-style only.
  • Meets Standard: Training is delivered professionally and effectively, using appropriate techniques to engage trainees and manage the session towards achieving objectives. Some interactive elements, adequate preparation.
  • Exceeds Standard: Delivery is highly engaging, adaptive, expertly facilitated, learner-centered, demonstrates excellent group management and questioning skills, and makes effective use of diverse techniques and tools to maximize participation and knowledge/skill acquisition. Highly engaging, adaptive, professionally facilitated.
